On March 21st, Tan Songyun and Lin Gengxin revealed that they would be the drama leads for the upcoming show, “Master Of My Own.”
The TV series between Tan Songyun and Lin Gengxin is based on portraying the love stories of contemporary urbanites in the workplace. The name is “Please call me director”. Lin Gengxin plays a domineering president, while Tan Songyun plays a rigid strong woman. The combination of a personal volcano hitting the earth is sure to bring a different kind of spark to the audience.
At the opening ceremony, the hero and heroine also appeared in the same photo frame. For Lin Gengxin, he is no stranger to taking on the role of a cold and domineering character with a high-flying career. As for Tan Songyun , this is one of her few modern workplace TV dramas since she made her debut. There is an element of excitement to see her take on this new role, as she has scope to demonstrate her versatile acting. The photos of the two leads are also full of chemistry.
Although this time, the baby-faced Tan Songyun has let loose her long hair and donned an all-black suit to put emphasis on her maturity, her youthful vitality and innocence still remain with her trademark full cheeks.
Tan Songyun’s Acting Career so Far
Tan Songyun played the role of “Chun’er” in 2011 “The Legend of Zhen Huan” is became well-known since her debut drama. So far, nearly all the TV Dramas with Tan Songyun has achieved relatively good TV ratings. This is inclusive of one of 2020’s best shows, “Together”, where she acted alongside Song Weilong.
Viewers can look forward to a more mature and wiser version of Tan Songyun in this show, as her previous roles have entailed taking on ‘younger’ characters. In the long run, this can be to her benefit as she will be able to explore a new chapter of taking on more ‘mature’ roles in her career.
Furthermore, her new role is in line with her deliberate choice of acting roles in recent years. As observed,Tan Songyun has begun to be more cautious and more diverse in her choice of scripts. For example, her recent show, “The Sword and the Brocade”, which saw her work alongside Wallace Chung, is a transformative chapter of her acting career. In addition to her change in costume styling – deliberately to reflect that of a more learned character – the entire plot setting of the show no longer like that of a simple youth drama. In the show, Tan Songyun took on a strong-willed character who is the daughter of a concubine. She struggles as a woman and feminist, to find her own happiness step by step.
This time, the workplace drama “Master of My Own” starring Lin Gengxin is very different from Tan Songyun’s previous roles in terms of plot and character design. With the support of the lead actor, Lin Gengxin, who has had multiple box office successes, viewers will surely have high expectation of the “Master of My Own.”
