Zhou Dongyu Joins the Shanghai Film Festival As The Judge of The Golden Goblet Award

Recently, Zhou Dongyu has been invited to become a judge at the 24th Shanghai Film Festival for the main competition unit known as the Golden Goblet Award. She joins a panel of international judges, coming from all over the world. She is also the only female actress to represent the panel, and is among the youngest judges to be appointed.

Zhou Dongyu and Belgian cinematographer Matthias Delvaux joined the judges of this unit, while Song Jia, who was originally scheduled to participate dropped out due to work arrangements.

Netizens voice their support for the talented young actress, who has won the Hong Kong Film Award for Best actress with her performance in “Better Days”. She also ranked 71st on Forbes China Celebrity 100 list in 2017, 7th in 2019, and 3rd in 2020.

She is also named as one of the Four Dan Actresses of the post-90s generation.

24th Shanghai International Film Festival

According to the CGTN, the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) will be held for ten days from June 11-20 this year, with the Golden Goblet Awards ceremony on June 19, the event’s organizer announced on Monday.

The international Class-A film festival usually welcomes over 100 new film crews and about 400 well-known filmmakers from home and abroad every year, except for 2020 when the red carpet and other ceremonies were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, the red carpet registrations are open for filmmakers and film organizations from across the world.

Founded in 1993, the SIFF is a competitive global event driven by Shanghai’s efforts to become an international cultural hub. A total of 3,693 films from 108 countries and regions registered for last year’s event.

This is the first time Zhou Dongyu has been invited as a judge for the panel.
