Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo ‘s fans have raised enough money to make a donation to build the “Wuji Road” in a Sichuan Village. Netizens have praised fans of the pair, as they have successfully championed the influence of their idols for a good cause.
The construction of the road has since been completed, thanks to the combined efforts of over 40 fans.
Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo ‘s Rise to Fame
The names Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo should be familiar names to all avid Chinese drama fans. After playing the two male leads for the billion dollar hit Chinese drama, “The Untamed”, both have soared to mainstream popularity ever since.
Although both actors have made their respective debuts between the period of 2014 and 2015, they were not as well-known before the airing of the drama. Yet, after “The Untamed” was broadcasted, the two have dominated fandom charts and celebrity endorsement sales frequently. Both have arguably rose to become A list celebrities ever since.
Fans who follow the pair know that they will unlikely have the opportunity to be on the same stage together after the broadcast of “The Untamed”, as the two are now too high-budget for a single production to afford. As it can be seen, both have yet to even show up for a variety show together ever since “The Untamed.”
The Construction of “Wu Ji” road
Despite the two having not make an appearance together since the end of “The Untamed”, their fans have not been deterred from celebrating their collaboration on set. A road named after the theme song of “The Untamed”, titled “Wu Ji (Unrequited)” was built in a small village. Fans of the pair have donated money to build roads for the small village as it had been plagued by transport and infrastructure related issues. The new road will help to make the remote village more accessible. Previously, the villagers had to physically carry heavy items home daily for long distances due to the lack of roads.
After learning the about the situation, fans of the two stars donated money hoping to solve the issues for the village in Sichuan. With the new infrastructure, they hope that the villagers can continue to prosper and achieve further economic growth. It is reported that the total length of this new “Wu Ji” road is about 2.4 kilometers, and it has been also been completed!
This is not the first time that fans of the pair have donated to the charity. In 2020 alone, there were as many as 40 charity projects funded by their fans.
After seeing this, many netizens commented that this is the best way one should pursue their idols. Instead of indulging in endless consumerism, taking part in a charitable cause in the name of their idols is a positive force that would help to benefit public welfare.
There are more meaningful things that fans can do instead of gossiping and engaging in fandom wars online. If a fan would like to show their support for their idols, the best way to do so would be to bring about positive impact to the society.
