Never knew that Zhou Dongyu and Xu Kai’s pairing would be not bad to watch. This may be due to a good role filtering. Zhou Dongyu’s acting skills and ancient costume was so awkward to the point that I dug out three rooms and a living room with my toes. Both her acting and appearance were surpassed by the supporting actors. There were instances that I thought she got possessed by Yang Mi. The failure of this show proves that that the actors should not attempt in themes and costume dramas where they are not good at. The plot is illogical and boring. I advise Zhou Dongyu not to accept everything just for the money. [Her] acting skills and this “Waterloo” [level type of drama], is more unacceptable than Zhang Ziyi’s TV series. [+3299]

The story is indeed good but I agree with some people’s comments on Zhou dongyu . I mean like she looks way too old as a female lead opposite to Xu Kai. Plus her looks doesn’t fit the role for a chief god .
I have had watched other immortal or costume dramas where the female lead looked beautiful but Zhou Dongyu is damn ugly . When I watched the first episode I thought she would be a supportive cast but it turns out that she was the female lead….I’m totally disappointed with this. Xu kai is a great and handsome actor , pairing him with such an ugly actor was not what I expected …..hmmm

Wow, drama fans are just vicious. And so shallow. Personally, i thought she performed well and the drama was entertaining, but even if I hadn’t, I certainly wouldn’t have responded with this kind of sexist savagry. I have the unpopular opinion that the male lead went to far and hurt his family too much to be redeemed. He doesn’t deserve them. His reasoning is selfish, to play the hero, if it was truly for love he would have treated them better, no matter what the obstacles were.
